How will you be using the site?
You can use the Braintrade Web site at any time to post projects/questions (as a job owner) and bid on work (other owner's projects/questions). If you will be using the Braintrade Web site just to post projects and/or questions, then select the first option to skip additional worker questions that we would otherwise ask you to complete.

Would you like to be a monthly subscriber to Braintrade's Web site and eliminate the 5% Auction System Use fee?
The monthly subscription is an option for workers who will be using the Braintrade Web site frequently and want to eliminate the 5% Auction System Use fee that Braintrade charges against the winning bid amount. Becoming a monthly subscriber will significantly reduce or even eliminate the fee that a worker pays on the winning bid amount. Currently, the monthly subscriber fee is $10.00 USD per month and is automatically debited from the customer's account on a monthly basis.

Would you like to be notified via email of new bids/jobs and related products?
If you select this option, you will be notified via email of all new bids posted to your jobs (as a job owner) and all new jobs posted to the Web site (as a worker/freelancer). If you are a worker/freelancer and you select one or more Favorite Categories (Login -> My Profile -> Edit -> Favorite Categories), then you will only receive new job notifications for jobs posted under these categories.

Post A Project
Top | Back
Why would I want to post a project on Braintrade.biz? Click here.
You must be signed-on to post a project. Registration is free. There is no obligation - you may cancel a project up until the time that you accept a bid and escrow payment.

When you post a project, you will be asked to fill-in several required fields, such as Title, Description, and Deliverables. Braintrade leaves all of the decision making between you and the worker so you should be as specific as possible when filling-in this information. You may upload a single zip file for the initial project post. This zip file may contain multiple files. You must post the project under at least one category. When you post a project, you are soliciting bidders in a reverse auction, which means you will post the maximum you are willing to pay, or you may leave the Max Bid field blank for an unlimited Max Bid. You may choose to limit bids to a region or area that the bidder (worker) is from. This is useful for projects that require work to be completed at a physical location. Bidders (workers) will be prevented from bidding on these jobs unless they reside in that region and until they complete a security screening that varifies their physical address. If you are an education professional, you may elect to share your project so that anyone who visits the Web site can view all information posted to your project (deliverables, public comments, answers/bids, private owner/worker discussion, ratings, and feedback). If your project has many milestones or phases, you can make multiple payouts to the worker after each phase or milestone is completed. You may also elect to use the optional Escrow And Mediation Service on your project.

Ask A Question
Top | Back
You must be signed-on to ask a question. Registration is free. There is no obligation - you may cancel a question up until you accept a bid (the answer) and pay the bidder.
Posting a question is just like posting a project only you will have less information to fill-in and you must post a Max Bid amount. The bid end date for questions is automatically be set to 30 days.

You may wish to bid on a job more than once. You may post one zip file per bid. Either party can communicate with the other side before making or accepting a bid by posting a comment. You are only allowed to communicate opinions, specific requirements, and clarifications about the project or question. Contacting the other party outside of Braintrade.biz is strictly prohibited, with the exception of jobs that specifically require contact with the worker outside of Briantrade after a bid is accepted. If you are the winning bidder on a project, you will be paid-out when both you and the job owner sign-off on the work and mark the job as complete. If you are the winning bidder on a question, you will be paid-out immediately upon bid acceptance. If the job owner does not sign-off on the project within 30 days from the time you marked it as complete, then you will automatically be paid and the job will automatically be marked as complete.

Feedback And Experience Score
Top | Back
To view your feedback and experience score, please sign-on.
Your feedback and experience score are comments and statistics collected by Braintrade to help other users evaluate your performance and abilities. Reputation is a key factor in helping someone who knows nothing else about you to determine your worthiness for completing a project or question. Online users can view all feedback that others have posted about you. The feedback system is a two-way system, so a worker can provide feedback about you if you were the job owner, and an owner can provide feedback about you if you were the worker.

What do the numbers mean?

Experience Score is just the total dollar amount of projects you have completed since you have been a member of Braintrade (life-to-date). There is also an image of a star to visually represent your experience. As your experience grows, your score grows, and the image of the star changes colors from light to dark (like the belt color system in Karate) in order to quickly represent your experience to online users.
Experience score is 0 Experience score is 0 Experience score is 0 Experience score is 0 Experience score is 0 Experience score is 0 Experience score is 0
$0 $1 -- $50 $51 -- $100 $101 -- $500 $501 -- $1,000 $1,001 -- $10,000 $10,001 and up

Recent Ratings shows the number of positive, neutral, or negative ratings that the user has received in the past one, six, and twelve months. After each job is completed, both the owner and the worker get to rate each other as positive, neutral, or negative. These ratings are shown once for you as an owner, and a seperate time for you as a worker. This way, your reputation as a worker does not affect your reputation as an owner. You may also view recent cancelled, mediated, and arbitrated statistics, life-to-date, in this section.

Positive Feedback Percentage shows the percent of positive feedbacks you have received compared to your total feedbacks. Again there is one percent for you as a worker and another percent for you as an owner. Positive feedback percent should not be confused with the positive, neutral, and negative numbers shown in the "Recent Rating's" section. These numbers are totals for each type, rather than a percentage of positive feedback.

When you look at any of these numbers from a job details page or next to a bid, then they represent the owner or worker's experience, feedback, and job canellations/mediations/arbitrations only for the categories that the job was posted under. For example, if a bidder shows an experience score of 100 next to his screen name on a bid for a project listed under the "Information Technology - Graphic Design" category, then you should interpret this as meaning "this bidder has worked on one-hundred ($100 USD) dollars worth of Braintrade projects posted under category, Information Technology - Graphic Design.

Monthly Subscription
Top | Back
To view Braintrade fees, click here.
The monthly subscription is an option for workers to earn more of the winning bid $ amount and eliminate fees. When you become a monthly subscriber, you eliminate the 5% Auction System Use fee that Braintrade charges against the winning bid amount. Braintrade recommends becoming a monthly subscriber if you frequently work on projects/questions on Braintrade.biz. If the project/question uses the Escrow And Mediation Service, which is not associated with the Auction System Use fee, then you will still be charged the 5% Escrow And Mediation Service fee against the winning bid amount.

Escrow And Mediation Service
Top | Back
To view fees for the Escrow And Mediation Service, click here.
You may elect to use the Escrow And Mediation Service on your project. This optional service is widely used by job owners and is desired by most workers to protect both sides in the event that a dispute arises. Either party can request a mediation and a Braintrade Mediator will step in and try to resolve the dispute. If the mediation can not be resolved, the job will be moved to arbitration, and a Braintrade arbitrator will make a decision following the procedures outlined in the Arbitration section of the Escrow And Mediation Service Agreement. Both sides will have a chance to prove their case. The decision may include an award payout to both sides. Since the money is escrowed after a bid is accepted and before the work on the project begins, the owner can be sure that the work will get done before any money is paid-out, and the worker can be sure that he will get paid after he completes the work.If you choose to go without the Escrow And Mediation Service, you (the job owner) will still escrow the money and will have control over payout or reimbursement of the money.
